Lina is an accomplished violinist living in Chicago. She has studied with Janet Sung (DePaul), Kevin Lawrence (UNCSA) and Edgar Aponte (El Sistema). Before coming to Chicago, she was for more than fifteen years a part of “El Sistema” – a social program focused on providing free music education to children and young students- in Caracas, Venezuela. There, Lina had the opportunity to grow up as a musician by taking lessons, teaching kids, and playing in the first violin section of the Youth Orchestra of Caracas.

 

As a member of the YOC, Lina toured and played in 27 cities of America, Europe and Asia, where she also taught and played with children and young musicians that were part of programs similar to “El Sistema” in those cities. She has played under the baton of conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Leon Botstain, Dietrich Paredes, Rafael Payare, Christian Vasquez, among others. Currently, Lina is pursuing a Post-Master’s Certificate in Violin Performance at DePaul University.
